Your dog’s foster journey

As dog lovers, we know how important your dog is to you. We’ll give them the love, care, and attention they need while you get back on your feet.

We understand that being apart from your dog can be a worrying time. We’ll be here every step of the way to support you both and make the process as easy as possible.

Collection

Each foster dog’s journey begins with us meeting you to collect them. Our friendly and experienced team will make the move as stress-free as possible.

Your dog arrives in their foster home

Next, we’ll take your dog to their foster home. We’ll also bring everything they need with them. From a harness and lead for exciting adventures, to a cosy bed to curl up in at the end of the day.

We understand that all dogs are unique. Some may want nothing but cuddles, and others might prefer their own safe space while they find their feet.

Whatever your dog needs, we’ll be there for them every step of the way.

Vet check

While your dog is in our care, we’ll take them for a health check at a local vets.

The vet will make sure your dog is up to date with their vaccinations and flea and worming, as well as providing treatment for any ongoing medical conditions.

We’ll cover all veterinary treatment - it won’t cost you a penny.

We’ll keep you updated about any treatment your dog receives while in their foster placement.

Regular visits and pupdates

Throughout your dog’s time with us, we’ll visit them regularly to see how they’re getting on.

We’ll support our foster carers to make sure your pooch is settling into their new temporary home.

We’ll also provide regular updates, and photos, to let you know how your dog is doing.

Family reunion

The aim of our Freedom Project is to reunite you with your dog.

Once you’re in a position to take your dog back, just let us know and we’ll do the rest. We’ll meet you at a safe location with your dog and talk you through all the important information you’ll need to know.

It was upsetting to say goodbye to Dusty as I didn’t know if I would see him again. It felt like someone was taking my baby away from me. But the updates from the Freedom Project were fantastic and so reassuring. They sent me pictures of him every month and I turned them into a canvas when I was in the refuge.

I was panicking when they brought him back to me as I didn’t think he would recognise me. But he jumped all over me straight away; it was like he had never been gone.

I’m so grateful to the Freedom Project, I’m so grateful that I got to keep my dog.
