The benefits of fostering

Would you like a waggy tail to wake up to in the morning? Or perhaps a walking buddy to help you get out and about each day? Whatever your reason, we have no doubt that you'll find fostering a dog with Freedom comes with many benefits.

No vet bills

Fostering a dog with Freedom is completely free - all the dog's veterinary costs, food and bedding will be covered.

Health and exercise

Caring for a dog can encourage you to take longer walks and to stay active. They can also help you to meet people in your community.

Giving back

Our foster carers are not only helping a dog in need, but enabling a family to take the next step to safety.

Wellbeing

Many of our volunteers say having a dog in their home has a positive impact on their wellbeing and mental health.

Confidential

We have policies and procedures in place to protect the confidentiality of our clients and our volunteers - you won't know anything about the dog's family and they won't know anything about you.

Different breeds

Our foster carers build up valuable experience of caring for many different breeds of dogs with a variety of different temperaments.

Support at every stage

Our experienced team will be on hand every step of the way. Whether that's a chat about the dog's latest adventure, or for support and guidance with dog training.

Regular team communication and updates

We couldn't run this vital project without our amazing volunteers. We keep our foster carers regularly updated on all of our joint achievements.

"It can be hard for our foster carers to say goodbye to their dogs at the end of the fostering journey, but they know that they are going back to their family who have missed them so much. Often our clients will write beautiful thank you letters to our volunteers, which are safely and anonymously passed on by our team. These letters often say that without our foster carer's help, they wouldn't know where they would be today. Every day, through the support of Freedom and our amazing foster carers, families are enabled to escape abuse and are able to rebuild their lives. And that's amazing."
