Cover your tracks

There are a number of websites which can help you to stay safer online. We know that it is common for abusive people to track and monitor internet and technology use, so the below tips and guides may offer key information to use websites more securely.

Use the 'Exit Site' button to leave the website quickly. This will take you to the BBC Weather website, and it won't come back to our website if you select 'back' in the browser. Once you're safe, you can then delete your browsing history. If your entire browsing history is empty, this could look suspicious, so you might want to just delete the websites where you are seeking support for domestic abuse.

Refuge's Domestic Abuse Helpline has links to show you how to delete browsing history on different browsers - Staying safe online.

Refuge also have a dedicated Tech Safety website. which can guide you through all safety options relating to technology - from your online accounts, social media, location settings and home devices.
